The main responsibilities for this position include:
Establishment, maintenance and incorporation of green manure crops for preparation of seed beds
Ongoing planning and preparation for sowing a balanced diet of seasonal vegetables for weekly production every week throughout the year
Maintenance of established vegetable crops
Weekly crop harvest, washing and packing in preparation for delivery
Oversee part-time, casual and voluntary labour
Occasional vegetable box deliveries
The selection criteria for this position will consider:
Ability to plan, be well organised and work independently without supervision
Communications skills – being able to work with others, including volunteers, will be vitally important.
Outgoing and enthusiastic – the community nature of the business will require a Farm Supervisor who ensures an easy and enjoyable experience for local families to get involved in their own food production.
An appreciation for small-scale intensive organic farming practices
Value Occupational Health & Safety procedures which will be essential for managing a voluntary labour force
Interest and ability to monitor and record farm activity
Epicurean Farm is a new Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) business, developed by the owner, drawing on 27 years experience in agriculture. Strong market demand now makes CSA businesses in Australia ready to grow and develop. The idea of CSAs is to focus on a strong relationship with local customers.
The Farm Supervisor will need to work independently with minimal supervision but with flexible work hours. Outdoor work is the dominant requirement.
