Experienced Radiation Therapists are invited to apply for a permanent full-time Senior Radiation Therapist position at the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre, which is part of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Cancer & Haematology Network. As we are currently commissioning the second linear accelerator for the centre, an eligibility list will be created from these interviews to fill other Senior Radiation Therapist positions in the next few months as a result of this expansion.
The Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre is located at Nowra on the South Coast of NSW and with the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre, offers radiation oncology, haematology and medical oncology services. Radiation Oncology has two Varian linear accelerators; a 21iX and a Truebeam due to be operational by the end of 2016. Both are equipped with On Board Imaging, Cone Beam CT, Respiratory Motion Managment, 6 & 10MV photons and a range of electron energies. The Phillips wide bore oncology CT scanner is used for simulation and all planning is performed on the Pinnacle treatment planning system, which links to the MosaiQ oncology information system. The Xstrahl D3300 unit that has both superficial and orthovoltage range of energies.

he Senior Radiation Therapist will assume a leadership role in all aspects of radiation therapy imaging, planning and treatment delivery. This includes operationally managing the daily service delivery either on a treatment unit or in planning as the leader, mentor and supervisor of a team of radiation therapists. The team provides accurate radiation therapy planning and treatment to patients, focussing on efficient, effective and safe delivery in a caring and understanding environment.
A commitment to and active participation in personal continuing professional development and participation in quality improvement and/or research activities is expected of the senior radiation therapist.
Rotation will occur through the radiation therapy simulation, planning and treatment areas. Whilst the position is primarily located at the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre at Nowra, rotation to the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre at Wollongong may be required.
