The directors of SBC Farms Partnership Pty Ltd are seeking a Farm Manager for their rural property. The details of the property and position description are listed below.

1. The Property:
The property known as "Marnong" is situated approximately 35km from the Melbourne CBD at 2335 Mickleham Road Mickleham on the corner of Mickleham Road and Donnybrook Road. It is approximately 1,783 acres of undulating land with 17 dams and 3 windmills. Deep Creek runs through the middle of the property. Approximately 850 acres of the land which we will refer to as the back land is not in the optimal state for breeding cattle. It needs to undergo some aerial spraying to remove unwanted wild thistle and artichokes. Once it has been rid of wild thistle and artichokes the next step is to assess the surface rock that needs to be cleared from the property before feed for future cattle grazing can be planted.

2. Plans for the property:
The owners of the property wish to commence the activity of grazing and breeding premium quality Black Angus cattle on the property. Having just acquired approximately 200 breeder cows with their calves with the intention of growing the stock to an age where they are ready for sale. Approximately 200 acres of Lucerne has already been planted with the intention that it will be used as feed for the future livestock. Some capital works are currently being undertaken on the property to better secure the supply of water, including the connection of dams with water pipes to facilitate the rotation of water around the property.

3. The ideal candidate will have:
An in depth understanding of beef cattle breeding and have the ability to manage both the cattle and the property to run an efficient, commercial and productive cattle breeding operation, with the intention of generating a profit from the proposed cattle breeding operations.

The successful candidate will have experience in cattle breeding and has either completed or is on their way to completing a post secondary education course in Farm Management, equivalent to the courses provided by Marcus Oldham College in Geelong.

The owners of the property are seeking a candidate who will provide guidance and strategic management who is also resourceful, handy and able to carry out repair and maintenance on general farm assets including fencing, windmills and water reticulation.

The general day to day operations will generally consist of

Management of the live stock
Sourcing supplies and managing the process
Management of the farm maintenance program
Undertake minor repairs of fences and general items in the course of the livestock management
Management of the planting, harvesting and storage of feed

Accommodation is available on the property, which is on a sealed road. Schools are close by.
