Use your engineering experience and planning knowledge to contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the city.

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Development Engineer to join our positive and energetic team. The team is responsible for ensuring developments are assessed and constructed to standard. You will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes with a high level of customer service.

This is a great opportunity to build your skills in the practical application of engineering and design, stakeholder management and negotiation. You will be responsible for the assessment of development proposals, as well as construction inspections of new civil assets to ensure compliance with Council's policies and standards. You will also have effective communication and interpersonal skills and require a good knowledge of road and urban stormwater design.

This position is limited term for up to three years. An eligibility list may be formed as part of this recruitment for future placements.

Essential Selection Criteria:

A bachelor degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, that is eligible for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Demonstrated experience in development assessment
Ability to assess engineering designs, flood studies and associated documentation.
Ability to undertake construction inspections of civil assets including road and stormwater infrastructure.
Demonstrated high level effective oral and written communication skills to a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ability to manage a number of conflicting priorities simultaneously to meet strict deadlines and identified outcomes.
Knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Roads Act 1993 and how they relate to the development process.
Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety principles.
A current Class C driver's licence.
Desirable Selection Criteria

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Austroads Design Standards and RMS Technical Guidelines.
Knowledge and Understanding of the Roads Act 1993.
Ability to generate practical solutions in accordance with relevant Council policies for complex land development
