Wollongong City Council is seeking an experienced Floodplain + Stormwater management professional to fill a pivotal leadership role in the management of the floodplain and stormwater unit.
The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced Floodplain Managers and Stormwater Designers in developing floodplain management plans and implementing these plans through scoping projects, prioritising capital works and providing designs that are best practice. You will integrate flood information into Council's existing information systems, educate the community on flood risks and will promote constructive working relationships with stakeholders in the process.
An eligibility list may also be formed as part of this recruitment for future placements.
Essential Selection Criteria:
Completed a Degree in Civil Engineering or related industry recognised discipline relevant to the position.
Demonstrated extensive experience in floodplain management.
Demonstrated extensive experience in stormwater quality and quantity management.
Demonstrated extensive experience in project management including the administration and management of contracts.
Proven track record preparing, managing and analysing budgets.
Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and influence employees and contractors.
Demonstrated ability to implement change and improvement.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to compile, implement, monitor and review business plan objectives.
Demonstrated ability managing multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
Proven track record to develop, implement, monitor and review WH&S systems, policies and procedures.
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Desirable Selection Criteria
Post Graduate Qualifications in a related field eg Management, Floodplain Management.
Ability to develop and promote education strategies which will increase the awareness of floodplain management issues in the community.
Demonstrated ability to implement Total Quality Management principles.
