Are you a strong communicator who enjoys working with the community?

Wollongong City Council has an exciting opportunity for excellent communicators to join our award winning Community Engagement team in a casual/relief capacity.

This relief list will be utilised to fill casual and temporary roles on an as-needs basis and will include night and weekend work as required.

In this role you would be responsible for:

Actively promoting Council services, facilities and plans
Working closely with the community to record and find solutions to Council related issues
Attending engagement activities on weekends and evenings
Designing and conducting community engagement strategies including surveys and other research techniques
Producing reports for Council
Managing community engagement projects
The successful applicants will have excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills. This job is suited to applicants with a background in communication, community development, research or marketing. Experience in working on infrastructure and asset management projects would be highly regarded. The position will also involve manual handling activities.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Relevant degree or substantially completed degree.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to conduct major communication and engagement strategies from developing a project brief to ongoing management and monitoring of the same.
Demonstrated experience in effectively organising tasks with competing priorities to meet project and program deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to document issues and needs and to translate these into innovative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and interpret data and present clear and concise reports that can be used for policy and planning purposes.
Demonstrated computer skills including data entry experience and familiarity PC based computer systems.
Demonstrated understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles.
Current Drivers licence.
