FARM OPERATIONS MANAGER

This large-scale horticulture operation supplies premium seasonal produce direct to national supermarkets. The business optimises output from the 800Ha farm with an intensive row cropping program that includes a winter and summer rotation of melons, brassicas and pumpkins.
The Farm Operations Manager will, in a hands-on capacity, be instrumental in supporting the continued growth of the business. They will provide leadership and day-to-day management of the field team to ensure the effective implementation of the Annual Farm Plan.
Responsibilities will include:
Optimising yield to meet market demand and achieved production objectives
Assisting in the planning and scheduling of crop planting and spraying
Coordinating the day-to-day activities of staff to maximise labour efficiency
Working with the management team to prepare annual budgets and define production objectives
Qualifications and experience
Previous experience in large-scale horticulture production
Management experience in best-practice methods for row crop vegetable production
Post-secondary qualification in horticulture
Strong leadership skills
Chemical users certificate and forklift licence
GPS Ag experience essential
Well organised, self-motivated and reliable
Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate initiative
Willing to learn and adapt to new system and methods
A practical, hands-on approach
A methodical approach demonstrating attention to detail
Capable of working in a fast paced environment with a can-do attitude
