Position Information
Woonona High School (enrolment 665 students, including 36 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students), is a coeducational high school serving its local community of northern Wollongong. Students enjoy a broad comprehensive curriculum and access to a range of extra curricula opportunities. The school has a strong commitment to the ethos of high expectations, improving student’s personal achievement and productive community partnerships. Woonona High School has been on a trajectory of significant improvement including but not restricted to quality assessment practices, formative feedback, differentiated teaching and learning programs and comprehensive HSC monitoring. Additionally, Woonona High School has been recognised for excellence in professional learning. The successful applicant will be a member of an innovative and transformative executive team. The successful applicant will lead a faculty of experienced staff delivering a range of mandatory, elective, VET and stage 6 TAS courses.

Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria, applicants must have approval to teach Technology Mandatory (Years 7-8) and approval or experience in teaching two or more Stage 6 TAS courses.

Demonstrated strong educational leadership of the TAS faculty to support high order, innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs incorporating formative assessment practices.

Demonstrated pedagogical leadership with a strong commitment and capacity to coordinate staff professional learning in an environment of high expectations and high standards.

Highly developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to work as a transformational leader of the school executive demonstrating the ability to support whole school strategic directions.

The capacity to develop and effectively manage cross curricula programs, particularly STEM and Project Based Learning initiatives.

Ability to lead the innovative and integrated use of new technologies in a BYOD environment.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies
