LOCALISATION LEAD

STARTUP JOBS OZ

SYDNEY, NSW, 2000

FULL TIME

At Canva, we’re transforming the way the world designs. Our mission is to make beautiful design possible for everyone. But making design simple is not easy and we need to continue to build a world-class team to pursue the many huge opportunities in front of us. So if you want to play a key role in one of the world’s fastest growing startups, this job could be for you.

About the job
We are looking for a great communicator to join our Internationalisation team as a Localisation Manager to help us launch Canva into a range of new languages and markets, while also maintaining our translation quality and improving our translation processes. If that’s you, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
Act as Canva’s primary coordinator of international localisation efforts alongside our translation agency partners, for both existing and future languages that will be rolled out across our mobile applications, desktop applications and additional web properties.
Manage translation and set-up of SEO content and marketing campaigns in tools such as Smartling, WordPress, Vero (email), Appcues (pop-ups), Leanplum (push notifications).
Find inefficiencies and gaps in Canva’s translation processes and create solutions to continuously improve them.
Drive our monthly linguistic and ongoing functional QA on all languages, on all devices, which includes:
(1) Facilitating content reviews between linguists who’ve conducted translation assurance and the original translators, then implementing appropriate recommendations
(2) Ensuring the Canva brand/tone of voice is consistent across 50+ languages
(3) Optimising test scripts for linguistic testers for each device – Web, iPad, iPhone, eventually Android
(4) Triage functional bugs in Canva’s international products, by:
Segregating Canva issues into product and linguistic categories
Investigating each bug and funneling through to the right channelsUpdate “Known-bug-list” as needed
Update Help Centre articles if appropriate.

Requirements:
Relevant experience in translation project management – ideally you have had experience managing an LQA process or worked in a localisation team.
Familiar with translation or localisation platforms (i.e. Smartling or similar CAT tools) and global translation agencies.
Strong interest in languages and the technology landscape – ideally you speak two or more languages and are familiar with Canva – bonus points if you have professional translation experience.
Tech-savvy – coding experience isn’t necessary, but technical ability is important: basic HTML/CSS and WordPress/CMS experience
Technological aptitude to manage spreadsheets, documents, and collaborative online forums (MS Office, Google Docs).
Basic understanding of on-page SEO and management of landing pages in WordPress & translation management software (preferably Smartling).
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Effective organisational skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders teams, working on consistently efficient issue resolution.
Basic digital marketing skills a plus – knowledge of email campaigns, behavioural targeting, etc.
Attitude: Comfort with ambiguity, you enjoy dealing with uncertain situations and are able to find solutions even without perfect precedents or direction. You are passionate about technology and consumer-internet companies, ideally Canva or design software companies.

Benefits:
Equity in one of the fastest growing startups in the world
In-house chef
Fitness Benefit
Professional Educational Reimbursement allowance
Company trips
