The level 4 head and neck clinical lead is a specialist in the provision of head and neck cancer services within speech pathology, and is involved with the planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting on clinical services across the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).

The level 4 clinician is able to provide clinical services to clients with head and neck cancers and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills. The level 4 clinician is able to demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimum clinical supervision.

The level 4 clinician is responsible for the clinical supervision and support of Level 1-3 health professionals, technical support staff, and students undertaking placement within the ISLHD.

The level 4 clinician will provide leadership in quality initiatives, contribute to clinical research, and participate in education and training of staff and students across the ISLHD.

The Level 4 Clinician will provide advice to the ISLHD Head of Discipline and the Unit Head on clinical service delivery development, practice, and redesign. They will provide guidance to management in the development of clinical services in response to demand and client needs.
The level 4 clinician may be required to undertake initiatives or an operational role under the direction of the Head of Discipline.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced head and neck speech pathologist to join the ISLHD adult speech pathology team.

This maternity leave position is for a specialist level 4 head and neck clinical leader who will manage head and neck speech pathology services across the ISLHD.

This is a temporary full time maternity relief position until 19/11/2020 with the possibility of extension at the same or reduced hours.

1. Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology, with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

2. Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in head and neck cancer, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and reasoning in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders within this specialist caseload.

3. Well developed time management skills.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication.

5. Knowledge of quality improvement and service evaluation processes.

6. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

7. Demonstrated ability to provide senior level of supervision to staff and/or students.

8. Unrestricted NSW drivers licence (P2 licence acceptable).
