Position Information

Oak Flats High School is committed to educating the young people in our community to maximise potential, improve quality of life, and to prepare our students to be contributing members of our ever- changing society. The school has 794 students, including students in 7 support classes. The school has 98 Aboriginal students, and employs an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer. We enjoy excellent facilities, with extensive grounds, an onsite farm, and have a focus on improving learning spaces.

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria:-

1. Demonstrated capacity to lead a range of teams to strategically plan and implement programs that support the school achieving excellence within the context of current educational reforms.

2. Demonstrated leadership capability that ensures the continued development of a positive, aspirational, high achieving and student focused whole school learning environment.

3. Demonstrated skills in leading staff to ensure successful outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal students, to improve engagement and achievement in the Higher School Certificate.

4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with an executive team to lead change linked to the School Plan, with an emphasis on high expectations of achievement for all students.


General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies
