Waverley is a diverse and innovative Council located in the heart of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Council is embarking on an exciting program of organisational change to position Waverley as one of the leading local government areas in NSW. Taking in some of Sydney's most beautiful and iconic beaches including the world famous Bondi Beach, and encompassing a part of Sydney's global economic corridor at Bondi Junction, Waverley Council is an amazing place to broaden your career.

Waverley Community Living Program (WCLP) provides services that reduces social isolation and vulnerability by linking people with disability and their carers with their local communities, building layers of support and coordinating services specific to a person's interests and goals. The Social Educator works to inspire the people we support to achieve their full potential. In this position you will deliver a person centred service providing living skills training, in home and lifestyle support to adults with a mild intellectual disability, who are living more independently in a close network of housing.

The successful applicants have the ability to provide quality service, promoting the rights, interests and needs of people we support. You have knowledge and awareness of the NDIS rollout in July 2017, the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and commitment to working in person centred ways balancing duty of care and dignity of risk.

Please refer to the position description below for detailed information on the position and required skills and experience. We have two full-time, fixed term positions available, plus casual work. Please indicate in your application if you are interested in the full-time or casual positions, or both.

Waverley Council is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all candidates. We encourage applications from women and men from diverse groups, including, but not limited to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people; people from culturally diverse backgrounds; young people; older workers; people with disabilities; LGBTIQ; and other minority groups.
