3 Ways to Kick Your Morning Off Right

Even “morning people”, can have a tough time starting the day off right sometimes. Here are 3 tips for kicking your day off on the right foot.

1. Start a Train Party! Okay, maybe this one’s reserved for the more outgoing types like the tuxedo-wearing dancer in the video above but people of all degrees of shy/outgoing can take inspiration whether it’s saying “good morning” to people you pass on the street, smiling at the bus driver or asking the Barista you get your coffee from how her day is going with genuine interest.  That little buzz you get from happy encounters and having fun is a great alternative to your regular caffeine hit.

2. Decide what kind of day you want to have.  With the chaos of modern life, it’s easy to get absorbed into the future or the past constantly thinking about what you will do or what you have done which often means we miss a big part of the present.  It also means that we often do things more out of unconscious habit rather than fully conscious choice.  Kicking off your morning with a clear intention is a great way to bring more awareness to your day whether it’s to have a productive day, spend quality time with family or friends without distraction, or just to have a good day, laugh a lot and enjoy it.  Set the intention and let it guide you.

3. Prepare! Setting your day up right is best done the night before (and not when you’re dragging yourself to bed after falling asleep on the couch!). Pack your bag, prepare your lunch/breakfast, lay out your clothes and your morning will flow much . Keeping your keys, phone, transit pass and other assorted necessities in the same place so you can grab-n-go will also help your body go through the motions just like a chef sets up his mise-en-place for efficiency and effectiveness in the kitchen.

What do you do to start your day off on the right foot?
