ANDROID ENGINEER
Due to incredible growth throughout the past three years, we are now seeking to add to one of Sydney’s best Android software development teams to bring the Canva platform to Android users. This is an opportunity to make waves in the mobile world by delivering a world class product to millions and be one of the first Android Engineers at Canva.

Frequently, engineers host sessions where a new idea or software engineering practice is discussed – this ensures that everyone in the team is constantly learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with designers and product managers to deliver Canva’s Android offering to millions of users across the world.
Create and ship a high quality application that will be recognized by some of the world’s foremost technology publications and websites (TechCrunch, Mashable, etc)
Participate in design and code reviews; contribute to the look and feel of the Android application
Engage in in-depth technically and product design discussions with the team
Identify and address performance bottlenecks – with passion for performance debugging and benchmarking
Collaborate with other team members to determine the best solutions to difficult engineering and user experience problems
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated 5+ years of Android application development experience
Deep knowledge of native Android architecture, frameworks, and the SDK / Android Studio
Strong Java Development Skills and an appreciation for a complex cloud-based backend
Understanding of various technology stacks, networking, and Linux systems administration
Be comfortable working with a wide range of development tools in an fast-paced, Agile environment
Strong Computer Science / Software Engineering fundamentals
Excellent problem solving skills, with a creative and analytical mind
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of UI frameworks (either Android, iOS, XML), MVP application design and complex, reactive touch based UI
Exposure to large, complex, highly-scalable environments hosted on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Currently have or have previously worked on applications available on the Google Play Store
Experience building for other mobile platforms such as Apple iOS
