An opportunity exists for a number of dynamic and committed individuals to take on the role of Electrical Plant Controller working within the Blast Furnace Operations.

In this role, the Electrical Plant Controller will add value to the evolving needs of the Manufacturing business by demonstrating capability and flexibility across required maintenance and operational tasks, attending to first call maintenance, routine electrical maintenance and operational duties as required.

As the Electrical Plant Controller the successful candidate will:
Be the first call to respond to maintenance issues
Monitor overall plant performance, ensuring continued high plant availability
Perform the majority of the electrical maintenance required by the plant
Perform operational checks and inspections and maintain a high level of housekeeping throughout the plant
Support improvement opportunities with the aim of lowering the overall cost of steelmaking
Be willing to support a 24-hour plant operation in a rotating shift work arrangement

This position is responsible and accountable for supporting and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace. If adequate laws or policies don’t exist, ensuring practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in OH&S; and environment.

To be successful in this role, the following key qualifications, skills and experience are required:
Electrical Trade Certificate
Current NSW drivers licence
Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment and maintenance
Effective communication skills across a variety of roles
Passion about maintenance excellence
A demonstrated commitment to health, safety and environmental standards

The following qualification, skills and experience will be considered an advantage:
Associate Diploma Electrical (or equivalent)
Proven experience in maintaining and operating gaseous and/or coal processing plants
Sound knowledge of process loop control systems
Experience working with process control instrumentation
Proficiency in the use of PLC controllers (preferably Allen Bradley Control Logix)
Demonstrated efficiency in fault finding
Forklift ticket
Knowledge and training in BlueScope isolation, gas safety and department emergency controller systems
