Purpose of Position
The role of the Level 1 / 2 Occupational Therapist is to be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy service within the designated caseload. This is inclusive but not limited to inpatients, outpatients and/or the domiciliary setting.
The position is to provide a quality occupational therapy service to clients, families and carers in a courteous and professional manner. This will include assessment and intervention to maximise the functional status of the patient and carer in the optimum environment and facilitate safe discharge from hospital. Assessments in the hospital and home environments may include modifying task performance and the environment to maximise safety and function.
The Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist is responsible and accountable for the provision of an effective and timely Occupational Therapy (OT) service to the health facility. The Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist is a competent clinical practitioner within the caseload in which they are based and able to work under minimal direct professional supervision. They are able to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters; however they may require direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex, or critical tasks.
The Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist may be required to provide supervision and direction to Allied Health assistant staff, undergraduate and work experience students on observational placements under the direction of the Level 3 Occupational Therapist and in accordance with the award.
This position may require a seven day roster and may include rotation to other sites/ services.
This is a temporary part time 22hpw position until 18/2/18 with the possibility of extension.

Selection Criteria
1. Current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA 2. Current class C NSW Driver’s licence or equivalent 3. Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills. 4. Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment 5. Demonstrated experience providing occupational therapy services in a hospital or community based setting 6. Knowledge and understanding of the application of quality improvement and evidence based practice to occupational therapy 7. Demonstrated high level of organisational and time management skills.
