The opportunity
This opportunity will allow you to complete a Certificate II in Engineering with a first class engineering business whilst completing your HSC. Each week you will complete one day of on-the-job work experience and also work full-time hours during school holidays, based in Cardiff.
Your role will see you assisting and working with tradesmen to learn all aspects of the engineering trade including CNC machining, assembling components, operating milling machinery, welding and light fabrication. You will be dealing with components for the mining industry such as drill bits, drive adaptors and bottling equipment.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a superstar school student who wants to kick-start their career in the engineering industry. You will have a good understanding of mathematical concepts such as trigonometry, Pythagoras’ Theorem and geometry and have a strong interest in pursuing a trade career in the engineering field after completion of your schooling. You will:
• Have commenced Year 11 in 2017 and be committed to completing your HSC
• Have reliable transport to and from work hours in Cardiff
• Have a strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy hands-on tasks
• Be hardworking with a positive attitude
• Have a strong desire to learn the engineering trade
• Be dedicated to following all WHS policies and procedures
• Be committed to completing and passing all practical and theory-based training modules
